INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR RF5/PF5
INSTALLATION PROCEDURES FOR RITE FINISH DRY
ERASE MATERIAL
EXAMINATION
Material should be carefully inspected BEFORE
CUTTING to confirm the correct quantity ordered has been shipped
SURFACE PREPARATION
Proper surface preparation is critical for a high
quality wallcovering installation. Surface must be clean, smooth,
dry, structurally sound and uniform in color. Any existing
imperfections in the wall surface, such as cracks, taped joints,
dents or nail heads should be sealed and sanded smooth. Ballpoint
ink, grease, crayon, or any other foreign matter should be cleaned
or removed. A Level 4 or higher wall finish is recommended.
Entire wall surface must be consistent in color
throughout, as any marks or color variations may possibly read
through to the surface of the dry erase wallcovering. A white
pigmented, high quality commercial acrylic wallcovering primer
is recommended to properly seal the wall and provide a consistent
color base for the Rite Finish product. Remove any brush marks
by sanding after primer is applied.
Wall surfaces should not exceed 5% moisture content
as measured by moisture meter. Do not install wallcovering unless
a temperature above 55 degrees is maintained in areas of both
storage and installation for three days prior to and after
the installation. If there are any questions concerning
the surface to be covered, a test installation of at least three
drops applied three days in advance of the main installation
is recommended.
Use only a lead pencil for marking the wallcovering
on reverse side of the Rite Finish surface.
APPLICATION
We suggest hanging the Rite Finish wallcovering
horizontally to eliminate seams in the writing area. For full
wall applications, it is recommended a full width strip be centered
on the wall horizontally in the most likely writing area. A
plumb or level line must be established for an acceptable installation.
Use a high quality, heavy duty clay based adhesive.
Apply adhesive with a ¼ nap roller to the backside
of the dry erase wallcovering product. Be sure to get complete
coverage, taking care to obtain coverage near the edges of each
drop. Allow 5 to 10 minutes booking time. Do not crease the
wallcovering when handling.
APPLICATION
Use a smoothing brush or a flexible wallcovering
smoother with a SOFT, non-abrasive edge. A clean paint roller
works well. The writing surface can be damaged by any sharp
or abrasive tool.
Remove air pockets or paste lumps, working toward
the uncovered wall. Work the wallcovering from middle to the
outside edge. Take care not to overwork the surface
to avoid paste lumping. Overlapping and double cutting is recommended
for best seaming results. Use the proper cutting tool so that
you do not score the wall. Carefully roll or press the seams
down, being careful not to overwork the seam. It is critical
that any foreign particles on the back of the wallcovering be
removed before final installation
Vertical seams should not occur less than 6"
from any outside or inside corner. Trim the wallcovering with
a single edge razor blade. Change blades frequently to insure
clean cuts.
Do not stretch the material in order to butt seams.
Slide the entire drop for proper fitting. If a drop goes up
unevenly, peel it off and re-install.
After one horizontal strip is smoothed to the wall
and excess paste is removed, examine the installed wallcovering
for color uniformity and overall appearance. Any problems with
the installation should be communicated to the manufacturer or
your representative BEFORE proceeding with the installation.
CLEAN UP
Be sure to remove all excess adhesive immediately
using a soft sponge and a warm, mild soap solution. DO NOT use
abrasive cleaners. Rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water.
Dry with a clean towel.
BEFORE USING THE ENTIRE WRITING AREA MUST BE CLEANED
TO INSURE PROPER PERFORMANCE. USE DRY ERASE CLEANER AND A CLEAN
TOWEL, FOLLOWED BY CLEANING WITH WATER. TOWEL DRY..

CARE & MAINTENANCE FOR RF5 /PF5
Before Writing on the Rite Finish Surface
Before initial use of the writing surface, the
material must be cleaned with dry erase cleaner and a soft
cloth, then towel dried. Follow with clean water and towel dry
with a soft cloth. This will remove manufacturing residue
and static electricity, optimizing the erasing qualities
of the RITE FINISH surface.
Daily Cleaning
Be sure to use only dry erase markers. To cleanly
erase, the marks must be dry. Erase in a circular motion
with a clean felt or sponge eraser. Clean the eraser often to
remove residue.
Do not use an eraser that has been used on a chalkboard.
For cleaning marker residue build-up, use marker board cleaning
solution and a soft towel.
Long Term Care
We strongly suggest that entire surface be cleaned
on a regular basis to insure the ultimate performance and appearance
of the product over the long term.
Warning
Do not use abrasive cleaners or sharp pointed
writing instruments on the Rite Finish surface.
